The engineering profession isn't going away. But what we used to call "coding" is shifting categories. The work isn't typing functions anymore — it's pointing several AI agents at the same goal and holding the line on the result. Coding becomes orchestration. The engineers who accept the category-shift first get the farthest. The ones who spend their time in denial → anger → doubt end up stuck in the swamp.
