is impact, not effort.
"How hard I worked" is a metric you carry around for yourself. It's not the metric the company uses. The company looks at "what impact did this create" — outcomes measurable in data. Projects that run without a clean success metric collect a vague sense of "going well" and then quietly fail. Unmeasured goals don't count, and failures only become useful when they're measured enough to learn from. So the sequence is simple — define the success metric of your work first.
