Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the "Career Hacker Alex" (커리어해커 알렉스) website at careerhackeralex.com and all related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Ipsum AI LLC, a limited liability company registered in California, USA ("we", "us", or "the Company").
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full.
1. Definitions
- "Service" — the website, lecture content, community features, AI-powered features (such as "Ask" and the "Second Brain"), email notifications, and all related functionality provided by the Company.
- "User" — any individual or entity who accesses or uses the Service.
- "Member" — a User who has registered an account with the Company.
- "Content" — all material we provide through the Service, including lectures, slides, videos, blog posts, the memory graph, and AI-generated responses.
- "User Content" — anything you upload, post, or enter into the Service (questions, comments, profile information, etc.).
2. Acceptance and Changes
- These Terms take effect when published through the Service.
- We may amend these Terms in response to changes in law or operational needs. We will provide notice at least 30 days in advance for changes unfavorable to Users, or at least 7 days for minor changes, both on this page and via email to the address on your account.
- If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may stop using the Service by deleting your account. Continued use after the effective date of an amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
3. Account Registration
- Eligibility: You must be at least 14 years old (or at least 13 if you reside in the United States) and capable of forming a binding contract.
- Registration method: through the forms we provide (email/password or Google OAuth).
- One account per person: each person may maintain only one account.
- Account security: you are responsible for safeguarding your credentials (password, authentication tokens). Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for losses arising from credential compromise.
- No false information: impersonation or registration with false information may result in immediate account termination.
4. Provision of the Service
- Service scope: we provide the following, subject to expansion or change:
- Access to lecture content (free and, in the future, paid)
- Access to and querying of the "Second Brain" / memory graph
- AI-powered recommendations, chat, and question-answering
- Community posting and discussion
- Email newsletters
- Other ancillary features we may introduce
- Modification and discontinuation: we may change or discontinue any part of the Service for operational, technical, or policy reasons. Material changes will be announced in advance.
- Availability: the Service is intended to be available 24/7, but may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, force majeure, or network failures.
5. Rights in Content and License to Use
- Ownership of Company Content: all Content provided by us — including lectures, slides, videos, blog posts, and the memory graph — is owned by us or our licensors, along with all related intellectual property rights.
- License: subject to these Terms and any applicable purchase agreement, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and view the Content for your personal, non-commercial learning purposes.
- Prohibited uses: you may not:
- Reproduce, distribute, transmit, publish, sell, or create derivative works of the Content without our prior written consent
- Use the Content as training data for AI/ML models without our prior written consent
- Remove, obscure, or alter source attributions
- Use automated tools (crawlers, bots, scrapers) to bulk-collect the Content
- Circumvent access controls (DRM, paywalls, etc.)
6. User Content
- Ownership: you retain ownership of the User Content you submit.
- License to us: by submitting User Content, you grant us a royalty-free, worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to use, display, store, back up, analyze, moderate, promote, and improve our features using such User Content.
- Deletion: you may delete your User Content at any time. We will remove the deleted Content (including backup copies) within a reasonable period, except where law requires retention.
- Prohibited content: you may not post:
- Sexually explicit material, content promoting violence, discrimination, hate, or abuse
- Material that infringes another person's reputation, privacy, or intellectual property
- Content related to fraud, financial scams, illegal gambling, or drug trafficking
- Content intended to disrupt our Service or third-party services (malware, phishing links, etc.)
- Content falsely presented as your own original work
- Moderation: we may remove or hide content we believe violates the prohibitions above without prior notice, and may suspend or terminate repeat offenders' accounts.
7. Paid Services and Payments
- Introduction of paid features: we may, in the future, charge for certain lectures or features. Paid features will be announced separately.
- Payment processing: payments are processed by our designated payment processors (such as Stripe, PortOne, or Toss Payments).
- Pricing and currency: prices are displayed in US dollars (USD) or Korean won (KRW), with tax inclusion explicitly noted.
- Subscriptions and auto-renewal: subscription products will be billed automatically until cancelled. You may cancel anytime prior to the next billing date.
- Refunds:
- Members residing in Korea: under the Korean Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, you may withdraw your purchase within 7 days. However, if you have already accessed digital Content, the right of withdrawal may be limited.
- Members residing in the United States: refund requests within 7 days of purchase may be honored, subject to the extent of Content already consumed.
- The above policies apply in conjunction with any refund terms disclosed at the point of purchase, and whichever terms are more favorable to the Member will prevail.
8. AI Features
- Nature of AI Responses: outputs from our AI-powered features ("Ask", the "Second Brain" queries, recommendations, etc.) are for general informational purposes only and do not substitute for legal, medical, financial, or tax advice from a qualified professional.
- Accuracy: AI outputs may be inaccurate or biased. We do not warrant complete accuracy; you are responsible for verifying any AI output before relying on it.
- Logging of inputs: prompts you submit to AI features, along with the responses, may be recorded and stored as described in our Privacy Policy. We use such records for service improvement, safety review, and processing under our service providers' policies.
- Prohibited inputs: you may not submit to AI features:
- Other people's sensitive information (Korean resident registration numbers, medical records, financial credentials, etc.)
- Prompts requesting illegal activity, violence, self-harm, suicide, or child sexual abuse material
- Attempts to bypass our systems (prompt injection, jailbreaks, etc.)
9. User Obligations
You agree not to:
- Violate these Terms, applicable law, or generally accepted social norms
- Impersonate, misuse, or steal another person's identity, account, or email
- Infringe our or third parties' intellectual property rights
- Disrupt the Service (DoS attacks, abusive traffic, automated script abuse, etc.)
- Use the Service for commercial purposes without our prior consent
- Submit prohibited User Content (Section 6.4) or prohibited AI inputs (Section 8.4)
- Engage in any other conduct we reasonably consider inappropriate
10. Account Suspension and Termination
- Termination by you: you may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us using the information in Section 13.
- Termination by us: after providing notice in advance (or, in urgent cases, after the fact), we may suspend or permanently terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms or applicable law
- You provided false registration information
- Your payment information is stolen or used fraudulently
- You have caused damage to us or to other Users
- Effect of termination: your right to use the Service ends upon termination. Refunds, if any, are subject to Section 7.
11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
- AS IS: the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, and uninterrupted operation).
- Limitation of liability:
- Except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages (including loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity) arising out of your use of the Service.
- Our aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim. For users of free Service tiers, total aggregate liability is capped at the lesser of USD 100 or KRW 100,000.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable mandatory law, including Korea's Framework Act on Consumers, EU consumer protection law, and U.S. state consumer protection statutes.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
- Governing law: these Terms and any dispute between us and you are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflicts of law principles. Notwithstanding the foregoing, mandatory consumer protection laws of the country in which a Member resides (including Korea's PIPA, Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, and Framework Act on Consumers) will continue to apply where they grant the Member greater protection than these Terms.
- Dispute resolution:
- Members residing in Korea: we will first attempt good-faith resolution. If unresolved, disputes may be brought to the dispute resolution body designated under Korean law or to the district court with jurisdiction over the Member's address.
- Members residing in the United States: you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California. Both parties waive any right to a class action; disputes shall be resolved only on an individual basis.
- All other Members: disputes will be resolved either in the courts of California, USA (our principal place of business) or via a mutually agreed arbitration body.
- Language: these Terms are provided in both Korean and English. In the event of any interpretive discrepancy, the English version shall prevail.
13. Privacy
Our collection, use, storage, and sharing of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By accepting these Terms, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.
14. Miscellaneous
- Severability: if any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a court or competent authority, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.
- No waiver: our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment: you may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with prior notice to you.
- Force majeure: we are not liable for delays or failures in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control (natural disasters, war, network outages, etc.).
