Alex's first full-time project was a post-processing framework to cut the error rate when Instagram ad creatives failed after upload and to prevent regressions. It was hard enough that he flew to Seattle and spent a week of all-nighters testing and coding with a teammate. The key lesson was the independence to deliver end to end on your own.
